Sassari,
la città dei Candelieri, è un libro fotografico realizzato dal
fotografo sassarese Francesco Idini, in occasione dell’inserimento
da parte dell’Unesco della festa come patrimonio immateriale
dell’umanità.
Attraverso
le sue fotografie racconta i momenti della festa, ormai secolare,
della discesa del Candelieri, un rito che
è il cuore dell’identità sassarese. La festa del Mezzagosto
infatti coniuga la storia e le più sentite tradizioni cittadine e
mette in mostra tutto lo spirito religioso e goliardico dell’anima
di Sassari ormai
profondamente radicata nella tradizione popolare della nostra città.
Il libro è il risultato di vari
anni di lavoro in cui l’autore ha ripreso i momenti ed i volti dei
partecipanti, siano essi appartenenti ai vari Gremi della città o
siano i portatori del candelieri o siano il pubblico senza il quale
la festa non avrebbe il suo grande successo; a partire dalla
tradizionale vestizione della mattina, proseguendo poi con la sfilata
attraverso il centro storico cittadino e fino al suo epilogo in tarda
serata nella chiesa di Santa Maria di Betlem le fotografie illustrano
lo svolgersi del rito attraverso i volti dei partecipanti.
Il libro è composto da 120 pagine
a colori con copertina rigida più sovra coperta a colori; I testi
sono sia in lingua italiana che in lingua inglese per fornire un
valido strumento anche al turista straniero che si reca in città per

Photo Book "Sassari, the city of Candlesticks - The faces of a party". Sassari, the town of stanchions, is a book of photographs made by photographer Francesco Idini Sassari, on the occasion of the feast inclusion by UNESCO as intangible heritage of humanity. Through his photographs tells the moments of the festival, now secular, the descent of the stanchions, a ritual that is the heart of the identity of Sassari. The feast of the Assumption in fact combines the history and the deepest traditions of the city and shows off all the religious spirit and collegiate soul of Sassari now deeply rooted in the folk tradition of our city.
